Frequently Asked Questions - High Point Gifts
What steps are you taking given the coronavirus?

As a microbusiness, our shop is maintained by my wife and me only. Though we operate our shop in a commercial location, we are not open to the public and do not maintain a public showroom.

As we process orders in this new reality, here's what we're doing to protect our community, our customers, and ourselves.

  • In addition to washing our hands in fastidious fashion many many times per day, we are wearing latex gloves in the preparation of all orders.
  • Our doors are remaining locked during business hours, and we have posted for delivery people the fact that we are following all guidance from the CDC regarding social distancing.
  • All orders for chopsticks, glassware, cutting boards, etc will be sanitized with a 99.8% alcohol, and will be labeled as such. This likely un-necessary step is only out an abundance of caution.

Both our shop and home are child-free, pet-free, smoke-free, and as of today will be visitor-free. We remain well stocked on all items and it is our intention to maintain as much "normalcy" as possible to the extent possible.

We thank you for your support during this difficult time...our income is 100% derived from our craft, so we are especially thankful for our wonderful customers.

Best regards and be safe,
Michael and Amy

How do I get my product engraved?

All we typically need is the text that you'd like engraved. We provide a text box for each product that can be engraved to collect this information.

Once we have the information, we will create a digital proof and send to your for approval.

Our standard fonts may be found here.

What is laser engraving?

Laser engraving is the process of burning a highly detailed image into an organic surface, typically wood. A beam of light is generated by a power supply, and narrowly focused into a high intensity "tip". One of the lenses travels back and forth over the substrate (wood), similar to a standard desktop printer. As the lens moves back and forth, the amount of heat energy from the laser is varied depending upon the design being created. Dark parts of the image will be more deeply engraved. Engraving is done at 600 dots per inch, the same as a laser printer, resulting in very highly detailed marks, and very crisp text.

Is laser engraving included with my purchase?

Yes, laser engraving is included on all products that are described as engravable. In most circumstances the included engraving area is 10 to 15 square inches. There is not a particular limit to number of lines or number of characters, as size of text can be changed to fit the allotted size.

Can I supply my own artwork? What are the requirements?

We can typically work with customer-supplied artwork, provided that it meets our artwork requirements. Please note that additional charges may apply due to engraving size, and any graphic work that needs to be done.

In general, black vector images will work best, please convert all fonts to outlines. Adobe Illustrator, or Illustrator PDF files are preferred, though we can typically work with an EPS files as well. If you only have raster (JPG) images, please contact us to determine if the artwork can be converted to vector artwork at a nominal charge.

Can you engrave our company logo for a retirement keepsake box?

Yes, we are able to use your supplied logo to create a highly customized retirement keepsake box for your retiring employees. Please see the artwork requirement above, or send us the logo you have for evaluation. In most cases we can affordably (in some cases at no cost) create the artwork required. In no case will we engrave a design that does not meet our high quality engraving standards. We will always contact you to let you know what available options are.

Do you source your wood from sustainably harvested forests?

Yes, all of our hardwoods are sources from USA-only Appalachian managed forests, primarily Pennsylvania. The United States has been using sustainable management practices in harvesting wood for decades, ensuring the availability of high quality American hardwood well into the future.
